CANADA
DAY
The Maple Leaf, our emblem dear, the Maple Leaf forever,
And
proudly
wave from sea to sea, the Maple Leaf forever.
We'll not
break
faith with glories past, the torch we'll lower never,
We'll proudly
wave
from sea to sea, the Maple Leaf forever.
Happy Canada Day!

God bless our beloved land.

Our
fair Dominion now extends from Cape Race to Nootka Sound,
May peace
forever be our lot and plenteous store abound.
Here may it

The

CHILD OF THE TRUE NORTH
When
the Great War began, the Dominion of Canada had a population of fewer
than 8 million people. Only 50 years into its Confederation, over
660,000 Canadians came forward to serve in the war with 425,000 serving
overseas. From its earliest years as a country, Canada has shown a
willingness to serve far from its shores to support its allies and to
stand for freedom. This is the child of the true north, strong and free.

CLAIMING THE WILDERNESS
With
the search for the Northwest Passage, the New World soon becomes a
destination for permanent European colonies, in Newfoundland and along
the St. Lawrence from 1540 to 1670. Samuel de Champlain begins his
legendary journeys, and the beginnings of New France are established.
Later, the English would settle all across Canada and establish towns
and cities from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast. On July 1,
1867, the Dominion of Canada was formed. Happy Canada Day!

CONFEDERATION DAYS
In days of yore, from
Britain's shore,
Wolfe the dauntless hero
came,
And planted firm
Britannia's flag
On Canada's fair domain.
Here may it wave, our
boast, our pride,
And joined in love
together,
The thistle, shamrock,
rose entwined,
The Maple Leaf Forever.

COURAGE, PEACE, STRENGTH O
CANADA
On merry England’s
far-famed land, may kind Heaven sweetly smile,
God bless Old Scotland
evermore, and Ireland’s Emerald Isle.
Then swell the song, both
loud and long, till rocks and forest quiver,
God save our Queen, and
Heaven bless the Maple Leaf forever.
The Maple Leaf our emblem
dear, the Maple Leaf forever,
God save our Queen and
heaven bless, the Maple Leaf Forever.

FATHERS
OF CONFEDERATION
The Fathers of
Confederation were leaders and visionaries who
forged
a great nation on July 1, 1867, one Dominion under the name of Canada.
Sir John A.
Macdonald, the first prime minister of the new Dominion of
Canada, proclaimed, "Let joy be unconfined, no sleep till morn when all
citizens can happily herald the existence of their new country -
CANADA!"

HAPPY CANADA DAY FROM THE
WILD
Wild
places sometimes demand silence. Not the eerie emptiness of no-sound
silence, but living, breathing wilderness silence. A silence defined by
the absence of the human voice. In the midst of this silence of the
North can be heard the myriad voices of Canada's wildlife proclaiming
its territory and asserting its indomitable spirit. Happy Canada Day
from the wild!

THE LAST SPIKE
The
Last Spike was the final iron spike
completing the Canadian Pacific Railway between Montreal and the
Pacific Ocean at Craigellachie, British Columbia, driven into the tie
by Donald Smith, later to become Lord Strathcona, on the morning of
Nov. 7, 1885. The Last Spike signalled the completion of the CPR which
today remains a symbol of national unity in Canada.

Here may it wave our
emblem dear,
The maple leaf so bright,
Let’s celebrate this

By lighting up the night.

we’ll fight,
But let peace forever be

While lighting up the
